Network Registration Guide

Connection Instructions for:

Note: manual device registration is available for devices that do not have a web browser (such as most wifi-enabled printers and gaming consoles).

Houghton College Visitors

After connecting to the HC-Visitor network please open a web browser and go to http://www.houghton.edu, you will be automatically redirected to the following page (it may take a few moments for it to load). 



Click on Guest Registration and the following page will request your first name, last name, phone number, and email address. Enter this information, and then scroll down on the page.

Once you have provided contact information, please read over and confirm that you accept the Network Usage Agreement.

You will then be able to select a method to validate your network access, so that we can your contact information. 

Once you have successfully registered, you will be allowed access on to the network for seven (7) days. After that, you will need to register again for continued access.

Houghton College Students

Note: We recommend that students use our encrypted Wi-Fi network, HC-Secure whenever possible.

After connecting to the HC-StudentOpen network, please open a web browser and go to http://www.houghton.edu, you will be redirected automatically to the following page (it may take a few moments for this page to load). After reading the security notice at the top, type in your Houghton College credentials, and confirm that you accept the terms of the Network Usage Agreement, then press Login.

After clicking "Login", you will be taken to a page displaying your progress connecting to the network. Once you have successfully established a connection, you can resume using the internet as normal. 

Note: if you experience any problems after clicking login, you may need to close your browser and re-open it.

Additional Notes

  • If your device has multiple network adapters (i.e. wired and wireless), you will need to register each adapter. Thus you will need to register once for wireless and once for wired.
  • Should you experience any difficulties in the connection process, contact the Helpdesk at helpdesk@houghton.edu and be ready to provide your IP Address and MAC (these are provided at the bottom of every page, for your convenience).
