Exchange IMAP settings

If you want to connect to Exchange with the IMAP protocol, you first need to contact the Helpdesk to be given permissions to use the IMAP and SMTP protocols. We will need to grant your account the necessary permissions before you'll be able to connect to the server.

After you have those permissions, here are the settings you will need:

Incoming mail or IMAP server: exchange.houghton.edu
Port: 993
Select "Always secure (wrapped port)" or "Use SSL" or "SSL/TLS"
Authentication method: "NTLM" (if this option is available)

Outgoing mail or SMTP server: exchange.houghton.edu
Port: 587
Select "Always secure (wrapped port)" or "Use TLS" or "STARTTLS" (this last option is recommended for Mozilla Thunderbird)
Authentication method: "NTLM" (if this option is available)

You may be prompted to provide your Houghton College username and password, please be sure to include the domain name in your username, either in the form of "HOUGHTON\your.name" or "your.name@houghton.edu". Or the domain might be a separate field, in which case you can put "HOUGHTON" as the domain and "your.name" as the username.
