Accessing www.houghton.edu web space using Microsoft Frontpage

Situation

You have received approval from Public Relations to make changes to Houghton's upper level website.

Solution

  1. Open Microsoft FrontPage
  2. Click File, Open Site (Open Web in previous versions)
  3. Type http:www.houghton.edu
  4. Click Open or Press ENTER
  5. FrontPage will prompt you for your Houghton Username and Password     Use HOUGHTON\firstname.lastname as your Username and your current password for Password.
  6. Click OK or Press ENTER
  7. You should get a list of folders.
  8. You will need to navigate the folder you have been given access to.
  9. You may now choose to create a new file by using the File / New menu option or editing a current file by double clicking on it. 

Tip: You can copy a file into your web by right clicking the file and selecting Copy and then right clicking your web in FrontPage and left clicking past.
 

Accessing your Employee web space using Microsoft Frontpage

Situation

You have allocated web space on the Houghton web server and need to access your web space using your PC.

Solution

  1. Open Microsoft FrontPage
  2. Click File, Open Site (Open Web in previous versions)
  3. Type http:campus.houghton.edu/webs/employees/firstinitiallastname
    (example: http:campus.houghton.edu/webs/employees/JDoe)
  4. Click Open or Press ENTER
  5. FrontPage will prompt you for your Houghton Username and Password     Use HOUGHTON\firstname.lastname as your Username and your current password for Password.
  6. Click OK or Press ENTER
  7. You should get a list of folders.
  8. You may now choose to create a new file by using the File / New menu option or editing a current file by double clicking on it.

Accessing your Organizational web space using Microsoft Frontpage

Situation

You have allocated web space on the Houghton web server and need to access your web space using your PC.

    (example: http:campus.houghton.edu/orgs/techserv)
  4. Click Open or Press ENTER
  5. FrontPage will prompt you for your Houghton Username and Password     Use HOUGHTON\firstname.lastname as your Username and your current password for Password.
  6. Click OK or Press ENTER
  7. You should get a list of folders.
  8. You may now choose to create a new file by using the File / New menu option or editing a current file by double clicking on it.

Situation

  6. Click OK or Press ENTER
  7. You should get a list of folders.
  8. You may now choose to create a new file by using the File / New menu option or editing a current file by double clicking on it.

Installing the MenuPlus Add-on to Microsoft Frontpage

The www.houghton.edu web server uses a third party navigation product called MenuPlus.You will need to download and install MenuPlus prior to modifying files. Please contact David Stith in PR (5600) if you have any questions about MenuPlus application.
